About the event
Join Japanese textile artist Emi Fujisawa for a joyful and instructive workshop to stitch a botanically inspired motif on a tea towel of vintage cloth, with yarn hand dyed with indigo by Emi — to take with you as a memory of your visit to OmVed Gardens, for your own kitchen, or as a gift for someone special.
Please bring a discarded piece of cloth to embroider, and give it a new life, following Emi’s guidance.
About Emi Fujisawa:
Emi Fujisawa is the textile artist and designer based in England.
Her philosophy is based on the proverb from Confucius that says “ We can learn new things from the past”. Strongly inspired by time-honoured textiles, she has developed unique palettes via her expertise in natural dyeing with a key focus on using natural, sustainable and ethical materials.
Emi says "My works are mostly influenced by events of my life and the people around me. Even that days can feel sometimes like that they are always the same, the sky often shows a different expression and palette, as the people within my life whom show a different spectrum of emotions and colours. How I am influenced by what surrounds me is projected within my work. I am very thankful everyday for the environment around me and for those close to me".
