About the event

We will start by taking a walk around Omved gardens collecting sticks, branches, wildflower seed heads and autumn leaves to make our own Halloween spooky monsters to hang from the trees.

There will be a selection of dried cones and other natural objects on the nature table to choose from as well as a selection of crafting items.

Then we will have a brainstorm about what kind of halloween object we want to make based on all the natural materials in front of us, before assembling our very own spooky creature tree hanging.

The children will take home their handmade creations or they can leave them hanging on the trees at OmVed.

The workshop is aimed at kids between 6 and 12. Kids should come accompanied by an adult.

Meet the workshop host:

Corrie Wingate is an artist and arts facilitator with a background in travel and documentary photography. More recently she has begun to embark on a career as a painter.

After traveling across the African continent as a photographer, and because of her interest in teaching art to children, she founded an Art centre ‘Kids create Kenya’ at a children’s home on Lamu island, Kenya. Now in its 9th year, the art centre is a place where children and young adults can express themselves freely through art. She continues to spend several months of the year in Kenya where she runs creative workshops for children and teenagers.

Corrie has been part of the garden and kitchen team since 2020 and you can find her either cooking for volunteers or working in the kitchen garden.
