“Food is the pathway to peace” – WFP Executive Director David Beasley

The event will highlight the critical situation in Yemen, where some 5 million people are only one step away from famine. Yemen is the poorest country in the Middle East and the conflict, now entering its sixth year, has led to millions fleeing their homes food prices skyrocketing.

You will hear from a World Food Programme staffer in the field, Annabel Symington, on the massive effort being made to prevent famine. And you’ll meet two inspiring 7-year-olds, Ayaan and Mikaeel, who set up a lemonade stall to raise money for the children of Yemen.

Your Virtual Chef’s Table host, Arthur Potts-Dawson, a WFP Chef Advocate, will invite you to cook along with a Yemeni American Chef, Sukaina Al Shami, to make an iconic Yemeni dish and find out more about the country’s cuisine and culture. Once you are registered, we will send you a list of ingredients, so you can cook along to create a delicious Yemeni dish.

This interactive event is free and will be hosted by WFP Chef Advocate Arthur Potts Dawson and supported by OmVed Gardens and World Food Programme (WFP).
